Citizen factory service
Citizen handles US repairs through its service center in Houston, Texas, and backs new watches with a 5-year limited warranty. For work outside warranty, Citizen sends an estimate before any repair. Citizen says turnaround is 30 to 45 business days after the estimate is approved, not counting shipping. Hurley Roberts Service Company in Atlanta has also been an authorized Citizen factory service center since 1983.
Independent Citizen service
A local watchmaker often makes more sense for a battery-era quartz Citizen, a vintage automatic, or when you would rather not wait six to nine weeks. Eco-Drive watches run on a rechargeable cell rather than a disposable battery. A watch that no longer holds a charge may need a new cell, so ask whether the shop can source genuine Citizen parts.
Before you ship, ask
- Is this an estimate first, or a flat fee?
- For Eco-Drive: can you replace the rechargeable cell with a genuine part?
- Will you pressure-test water resistance after the case is opened?
- What warranty do you give on the work?
