What we can, and can't, post as your listing photo
A photo does real work on a listing: it's often the first honest signal a visitor gets about whether this is a real bench or a stock-photo storefront. That only holds if the photos on this site mean what they appear to mean. This page covers the standard every listing photo is held to, whether it arrives from a provider, gets sourced by us, or fills in as a placeholder while we wait for one.

What We're Looking For
The best listing photo is proof, not decoration.
✓
A real photo of your own business. Your storefront, your bench, an open movement mid-repair, you or your staff at work. The specific thing a visitor can't get from a stock photo.
✓
Clear and well-lit. A clear, well-lit phone photo works just as well as a professional one. We're not judging production value, just clarity and compliance.
✓
Everyone in it knows they're in it. Staff who consented to appear are welcome. A customer's watch is fine to show; a customer's face generally isn't, unless they've agreed to appear in marketing material.
✓
Yours to share. You took it, a staff member took it on the job, or you otherwise hold the rights to use it commercially, not pulled from a manufacturer's marketing site or another shop's page.
Some of this is the law. Some of it is the same trust standard the rest of this site runs on.
✗
Another brand's logo, wordmark, or dial as the point of the photo. A watch on your bench that happens to say "Rolex" is fine. A photo built around showcasing that name, or implying you're authorized when that isn't confirmed on file, is exactly the trademark-misuse failure that can get a listing removed under The Verification Standard.
✗
Stock photography, presented as your shop. A licensed stock photo of a generic watchmaker isn't a photo of your business, however well it fits. If you don't have your own photo yet, tell us: we have a clearly marked placeholder for exactly this (see Section 04), and it's honest where a stock substitute wouldn't be.
✗
Marketing text baked into the image. Claims, taglines, or credentials rendered directly into the photo (rather than typed into your listing's actual fields) can't be fact-checked or corrected the way text can, so we ask for the claim in words and the photo as a photo; keep these items separate.
✗
An identifiable customer, without their OK. Their watch, sure. Not their face, their name on a work ticket, or anything else that identifies them. We'd rather spend our time bringing you new customers than adjudicating customer consent.
✗
Anything you don't have the right to use commercially. Pulled from another business's website, a manufacturer's press kit, or a photographer's portfolio without a license, regardless of how you found it or whether it's watermarked.
We check content before anything goes live. This isn't an honor system we take on faith: every photo that reaches a listing gets looked at as part of the same review that checks the rest of the listing, the same way a brand-authorization claim gets checked against the brand's own records rather than taken on a provider's word.
By sending us a photo, by email, by reply, or through any upload form we offer, you're telling us two things, and you're the one responsible for both being true: that you own it or otherwise hold the right to use it commercially, and that everyone identifiable in it has agreed to appear on a public website. You're granting Watch Service Concierge a non-exclusive license to display that photo on your listing (and in directory-wide pages like our brand and category pages) for as long as your listing is active. You keep your rights to the photo otherwise: we're not taking ownership of it, and you can ask us to take it down at any time under Section 05.
A listing without a photo yet doesn't sit blank, and it doesn't get a stock photo dressed up as real; it gets a piece from our own small, clearly attributed collection of commissioned art on a watchmaking theme: hands, tools, an open movement, rendered as oil painting, Impressionist brushwork, or pop art rather than as a photograph. It's obviously not a photo of your shop, and it isn't trying to be. The moment you send us a real one, it's swapped in and the placeholder comes down. If you'd rather we leave the space blank instead of using placeholder art, tell us and we will.
1
Every photo is reviewed against this page before it's published on your listing: nothing you send goes live automatically.
2
If something doesn't clear this standard, we'll tell you specifically what and ask for a replacement rather than just dropping it, unless it's the kind of thing (a genuine trademark or privacy problem) that means we hold the listing at its prior image in the meantime.
3
You can ask us to take a photo down or swap it at any time, for any reason: email listings@watchserviceconcierge.com and we'll act on it within three business days.
Reply with the photo attached to the confirmation email we send you (that's the fastest path), and it's the same email that already asks you to confirm the rest of your listing. No email on file, or want to send one any time after that? Send it to listings@watchserviceconcierge.com with your business name in the subject line.
