Audemars Piguet factory service
Audemars Piguet says its network watchmakers are trained continuously, periodically re-accredited, and use only genuine parts. Each watch's service history is tracked by its case and movement numbers. Service requests can be made online, and the AP store locator can filter for locations that service watches.
Audemars Piguet recommends a yearly check of accuracy, functions, water resistance and magnetization. It offers that check-up free of charge in its boutiques. New watches carry a 2-year international warranty. Registering within one year of purchase extends it to 5 years. Eligible watches also get AP Coverage Service: 2 years of free protection against burglary, robbery and functional damage, which must be activated before any incident.
AP publishes its service prices in Swiss francs for its Geneva boutique, for example 950 CHF for a complete service on a Royal Oak Selfwinding. It also advises no more than three to five cosmetic refinishings over a watch's life.
Independent Audemars Piguet service
The warranty does not cover repairs by anyone other than an AP boutique, authorized dealer or authorized service center. So while a watch is under warranty, go to AP. Once it is out of warranty, an experienced independent is an option, especially for older pieces.

- How much will you polish the case and bracelet? (AP advises three to five refinishings at most over a watch's life.)
