A Blancpain can be serviced by the brand's own after-sales network or by a qualified independent watchmaker.

Blancpain factory service

Blancpain recommends a full service every five years. New Blancpain watches bought from January 1, 2025 carry a 5-year warranty, activated by an official Blancpain boutique or dealer. Blancpain says its service watchmakers are trained by the brand and certified by complication level.

When a watch reaches a Blancpain service center, its service history is checked by serial number and its condition is photographed. A watchmaker then inspects it and prepares an estimate. On approval, the movement is fully dismantled, cleaned, reassembled and oiled, with worn parts replaced. Water resistance is tested under vacuum, with a second test for dive watches. Accuracy and functions are then checked for up to 12 days, depending on the power reserve, before the watch goes back to the boutique or dealer.

Independent Blancpain service

Blancpain belongs to the Swatch Group, and since January 1, 2016 the group has supplied Blancpain spare parts only to repairers it has approved for a parts account. An independent can still do excellent work, especially on vintage Fifty Fathoms, but the parts question matters. If a part must be replaced, ask how the shop will source it and whether it will be genuine.

Before you ship, ask

• Do you hold a Swatch Group parts account, or how do you source Blancpain parts?
• Will you return any replaced original parts to me?
• For a dive watch: will you pressure-test it to its rated depth?
• For vintage pieces: will you consult me before refinishing the dial, hands or case?
