Czapek Watch Repair & Service
Czapek & Cie is an independent Swiss watchmaker based in Geneva, with a manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds opened in April 2022. The brand sells in the US through its own US site (Czapek Americas Inc., which imports watches and ships them from Connecticut) and through nine named US retail partners. Czapek does not name a US service center. Its site asks owners who want servicing to visit one of its boutiques or schedule an appointment, and its retail partners act as the US points of contact.
Czapek factory service
Czapek publishes its service terms on the Customer's Corner page of czapek.com.
- Service interval: Czapek recommends "your watch to be serviced every 4-5 years."
- What a movement overhaul includes: full dismantling, inspection and cleaning with damaged parts replaced; each component washed several times; reassembly and lubrication, with the movement upgraded to its latest version where available and where the mainplate allows; optional case and bracelet repolishing; chronometric checks and adjustment; all gaskets replaced and water resistance tested.
- Published prices (CHF, excluding VAT and shipping): Quai des Bergues movement overhaul CHF 800; Faubourg de Cracovie CHF 1,100; Antarctique CHF 900; Place Vendôme CHF 2,300. Polishing is on demand, from CHF 300 (Quai des Bergues steel case) to CHF 1,000 (Antarctique steel complete polishing); titanium and gold cases CHF 600, platinum CHF 800.
- Where the work is done: not stated on the page. The brand's own contact page lists only the Geneva boutique (Rue de la Cité 18, 1204 Geneva, +41 22 557 41 41). The US site (czapek.us) has no service, warranty or repair content.
- How to request service: the points-of-sale page says "to entrust us with yours for servicing, feel free to visit one of our boutiques or schedule an appointment with us." Appointments go through the contact form on czapek.com.
- Warranty length: not stated. The terms refer to an "international warranty" without defining it, and the "Your legal guarantee rights" page carries only the EU harmonised notice on the legal guarantee of conformity as an image.
- Shipping, who pays and turnaround: not stated.
- Service records: Czapek's Digital Product Passport (blockchain certificate) stores "all its service and ownership change history," and "any authorized servicing or repairs are automatically logged." Owners register with the serial number or the QR code on the warranty card or packaging.
Independent Czapek service
Czapek's site does not say that third-party service voids the warranty, and it does not define the warranty at all, so ask the brand directly before any independent work on a watch still under warranty. Czapek lists seven calibers it developed: SXH1 (7-day manual winding), SXH2 (tourbillon and second time zone), SXH3 (automatic integrated chronograph), SXH5 ("in-house automatic micro-rotor"), SXH6 (openworked split-seconds chronograph), Calibre 8 (double escapement with differential, made with Bernhard Lederer) and Calibre 9 (automatic manufacture tourbillon). These are low-volume movements, and parts come from Czapek. An independent watchmaker will need a parts channel for anything beyond cleaning, lubrication and gaskets. Only authorized service is logged in the Digital Product Passport, which matters for resale.
Before you ship, ask
- Will the work be done at your bench, or sent to Czapek? If it is sent on, does the quote add a fee on top of the brand's charge?
- Are you authorized by Czapek, or will service here affect the warranty or the Digital Product Passport record?
- Have you worked on a Czapek SXH-series caliber before, and can you source parts from the brand?
- Will the service be recorded in the Digital Product Passport?
- What is the turnaround, and is the watch insured in transit to and from Switzerland if it goes to the manufacture?
Providers on this page were researched against our Standard at the time they were listed and are rechecked periodically. Details can change between checks, so confirm terms, pricing and turnaround directly with the provider before sending your watch.
