MING

Curated service providers experienced with MING.

Oster Jewelers is an independent watch and jewelry boutique in Denver's Cherry Creek North, run by Jeremy and Melissa Oster. Czapek, Armin Strom, MING and Moritz Grossmann each name it as an authorized retailer, so it can take those watches in for factory service.

MING Watch Repair & Service

MING is a Swiss-registered independent brand (Horologer MING SA) with production and assembly in Switzerland and design, engineering and final quality control in Kuala Lumpur. There is no US office or US service center. Warranty and out-of-warranty service are handled by MING itself, by email, with the watch shipped to the brand; MING's terms also allow a watch to be returned through one of its authorised retail partners, of which three are in the US. The brand's own site does not name any US location specifically for service.

MING factory service

MING's warranty is "a limited warranty against mechanical and manufacturing defects." The length is set per model and printed on the paperwork delivered with the watch; the FAQ says it is "usually 24 months from delivery," and current product pages (37.09 Uni, 57.04 Phoenix) state "2-year warranty against defects." Wear and tear, external coatings (DLC, heat bluing, AR coating), damage from shocks, magnets or misuse, and accessories are not covered. Any watch opened or serviced by the owner or a third party loses warranty coverage.

Recommended interval: "We recommend a service every 5-7 years for your MING." MING also recommends a water resistance check at least once a year if the watch is used in the ocean, and says a certified watchmaker can test it.

How to request service: email MING (hello@ming.watch) or use the contact form at ming.watch/contact and choose the category "Repair or service for my MING." Include the invoice or serial number. MING advises on next steps and, for out-of-warranty work, gives a cost estimate after inspecting the watch; work is "charged based on the scope of work." If the owner declines the estimate the watch is returned at the owner's cost. MING may decline a repair it considers not economically viable. Replaced parts are not returned and spare parts are not sold.

Shipping: "Horologer MING will bear shipping costs for warranty claims. Shipping for out of warranty service will be borne by customers." The terms add: "You may return the watch to either MING or one of our authorised retail partners."

Turnaround and published service prices: not stated. Named US service centers: none. In August 2024 MING announced its first Swiss office in La Chaux-de-Fonds, saying the expansion would allow "a long-term service solution" and "an additional service and repair partner"; later posts mention a first full-time watchmaker there (December 2024), but no service partner has been named on the site as of this check.

Independent MING service

MING's warranty excludes any watch serviced by a third party: "Trying to disassemble a watch by yourself or having your local watchmaker do it automatically voids the warranty." While a watch is in warranty, send it to MING or hand it to a MING authorised retailer.

Out of warranty, the movements are supplied by established Swiss makers. Current production models use Sellita calibers built for MING (for example the automatic SW300.M1 in the 37.09 Uni and the manual-wind SW562.M1 in the 57.04 Phoenix); MING's About page also names Agenhor and La Joux-Perret among its partners, and some chronograph and special-project models use their movements. A competent independent watchmaker can service a Sellita base movement, but MING does not sell spare parts, so MING-specific components (cases, crystals, dials, custom bridges and rotors) must come from the brand. For anything beyond a routine movement service or a water resistance test, the practical route is MING itself.

Before you ship, ask

  • Will the work be done at your bench, or sent to MING? If it is sent on, does the quote add a fee on top of the brand's charge?
  • Are you authorized by MING, or will service here void the warranty?
  • Have you serviced the specific Sellita (or Agenhor or La Joux-Perret) caliber in this model, and can you source parts if one is needed, given that MING does not supply spare parts?
  • Can you pressure-test the watch to its rated depth after the case is reopened?
  • What is your turnaround, and is the watch insured for its full value while in your care and in transit?

Providers on this page were researched against our Standard at the time they were listed and are rechecked periodically. Details can change between checks, so confirm terms, pricing and turnaround directly with the provider before sending your watch.
