Cartier recommends servicing a mechanical watch once every six years by a Cartier-authorized professional. For quartz watches, it suggests replacing the battery about every two years. Water-resistance seals should be replaced every two years in normal use, or every year if the watch is often in water. Owners can take a watch to a Cartier boutique or authorized dealer, or mail it to Cartier's workshop. Registering for Cartier Care extends the warranty to 8 years.
Independent Cartier service
An independent can suit an older quartz Tank or Santos that needs a battery, seals or a routine service. For a watch still under warranty, or one registered with Cartier Care, start with Cartier so the extended warranty is not affected.
